Hi, I am Tess
I never believed that I would face the frumpy doom of my ancestors. After all, I was that thin kid who worked out frequently. I thought that weighing over 130 was the ultimate height of obesity. WTF! Oh, BTW, that is the acronym for What the Frump, just like the name of this website.
Living in my own little world, I don’t usually consider myself frumpy. But then I see a group photo with an overweight, frumpy woman that I don’t remember being with the group.
I stare and squint and examine the person from all angles. What is that person? Why don’t I remember seeing her? It finally dawns on me, much to my dismay, that I am looking at myself.
My immense sigh mimics the breathing exercise on one of those videos that promises sleep within three minutes. I don’t fall asleep because I need to check and see if I have in fact, fallen asleep in three minutes.
Oh, but back to the story. I found that as the size of clothing increases, so does the amount of frumpiness. I think back to polyester double-knit leisure suits worn by those fashionista men.
I also think of women, like my ancestors who wore dusters and house coats. Somehow adding a pin or brooch to them took the usually shapeless garment to a much higher level of fashion.
Whether you fiercely fight frumpiness on a daily basis or consider it nothing more than creature comfort, welcome to What the Frump!. Gather here to share your thoughts, your style ideas and the parts of you that overpower frump.
Simple Moments That Inspire
